A Message from David

Thanks for visiting my website!

Pleasant Hill residents elected me to be a positive, effective, independent leader for our City.  I have been that kind of leader!

I’m Committed to Integrity, Collaboration and Positive Leadership
As your Councilmember, I've made decisions with common sense, integrity, dignity and fortitude.  I've kept my word.  I’ve pursued regional cooperation.  I’ve reached across old divides to build partnerships.  I have a positive vision of Pleasant Hill’s future, built on its past, protecting and enhancing our neighborhoods and the look and feel of Pleasant Hill.  I am running for re-election because I love this community.  And, working together, we can make it even better than it is.

I Have a Solid Record of Fiscal Responsibility and Strong Leadership
I have made tough choices to streamline and improve city services.  I’ve fought to protect our budget and ensure effective city services.  I’ve also fought to have developers pay their fair share.  I’ve pursued responsible policies that protect neighborhoods, promote safety, support local businesses and enhance affordable housing opportunities.  I've championed greater openness, respect and cooperation on the Council.  I’ve been a forceful advocate for improving school conditions and flood protection, enhancing police services, increasing accountability and protecting your local tax dollars.

I Have Been an Effective Leader in Managing Growth
I’ve worked hard to facilitate a dynamic project at the Crossroads Shopping Center at a reasonable cost to our residents.  I had a strong hand in crafting our General Plan.  I led the charge to preserve the Oak Park Elementary School site and to seek an equitable plan for flood protection and increased recreational opportunities.  I have also stood firm against over-building residential properties and unwise investments in Redevelopment Agency projects.

During my two terms as a Councilmember, I worked diligently to:

  • enhance child safety
  • strengthen law enforcement
  • improve school conditions
  • seek solutions to traffic problems
  • streamline city government
  • use your tax dollars wisely
  • protect neighborhoods
  • secure flood protection
  • support local business
  • increase open space and park land
  • seek local and regional solutions to other problems that affect Pleasant Hill resident

With your help, I will continue this important work. And, I will continue pursuing our shared vision of a brighter future for Pleasant Hill: with a dynamic Contra Costa (Wards) Center; a library with greater programs and services; an expanded Senior Van Program; an improved Senior Center facility; careful long-term land use planning that manages development, adequately provides for infrastructure (such as streets, sidewalks, transportation and communications systems, and the like), and preserves Pleasant Hill’s residential character.

With your help, I will continue this important work.  And, I will continue pursuing our shared vision of a brighter future for Pleasant Hill.  I appreciate your vote to re-elect me on November 4.

Thank you and best wishes,

David
