Candidate Ballot Statement
In 1999, you elected me to be a positive, effective, independent voice
on our Council. I have been that voice.
As Mayor, Redevelopment Chair and Councilmember, I have championed greater
openness, respect and cooperation on the Council, and better communication
between you and your city government. I make decisions with common sense,
integrity, dignity and fortitude. I’ve pursued regional cooperation
and careful long-term planning that ensures our city’s financial
health and well-being. I’ve reached across old divides to build
partnerships for the betterment of our community.
I have made tough choices to streamline our government operations. I’ve
pursued responsible and equitable policies, especially those that protect
and enhance neighborhoods, support our businesses, promote safety, and
improve city services. I’ve been a strong advocate for Pleasant
Hill, improving school conditions and flood protection, enhancing police
services, and protecting your local tax dollars.
With your help, I will continue tirelessly pursuing our shared vision
of a brighter future for Pleasant Hill: more efficient and effective
city services, a dynamic Contra Costa Center, a library with greater
programs and services, more parks, improved education, and continued
protection for our neighborhoods.
Together, we can keep improving Pleasant Hill. Please re-elect me, David
Durant. Thank you.
